Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) have said they will not take the offer made by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president Kondwani Nankhumwa who called for dialogue.
During a DPP victory match rally at Nyambadwe Primary School ground in Blantyre, Nankhumwa said he is ready to have talks with Lazarus Chakwera of MCP and Saulos Chilima of UTM as one way of ending the political impasse that has wrapped the country.
Responding to Nankhumwa’s call, MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka said they cannot share tables with those who stole their victory citing that the best dialogue is to accept and rerun.
“We cannot have talks with a group of people who stole our victory, the best solution is rerun,” Mkaka said.
Mkaka added that their eyes are at the court where the constitutional will determine on the elections case.
He continued that a call by the minister of Agriculture does not have honest in it and does not make any sense.
“When you find a thief in your goat kraal, you do not negotiate with him. May 21 elections were fraudulent and there is no sense in discussing with someone who stole our victory,” he said.
On the other hand, UTM spokesperson Joseph Chidanti Malunga said they want electoral justice and would want to give the court a chance to make its determination and not backdoor meetings.
