Fire has gutted down part of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) offices in the commercial capital Blantyre, faceofmalawi can reveal.

The fire is suspected to have emanated from a petrol bomb set by suspected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth cadets and the fire started at around 10pm, according to an eyewitness who rushed to the scene.

MCP Campaign Director Moses Kunkuyu confirmed of the development in an interview with the press this morning.

Kunkuyu said the fire is the act of arson by political opponents aimed at silencing the party in pursuing justice in the ongoing election case involving Presidential results.

The extent of the damage is not known at the moment.
