The Southern Region Water Board has disconnected water supply at Mangochi Prison over unpaid bills amounting to over K7 Million.
The utility body has also disconnected supply to Prison staff’s houses where the bills have also accumulated to around K700, 000.
Malawi Prison Service National Spokesperson, Chimwemwe Shaba, has confirmed the development.
This has led to panic among officials in light of infections related to lack of sanitation among the 275 prisoners currently held at the institution.
