Police in Chitipa have confirmed death of Binwell Mtambo, uncle to Timothy Mtambo of Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC), after being hit by a police Vehicle on Thursday evening.
Police Spokesperson in Chitipa Gladwell Simwaka, said the vehicle was coming from Lufita.
But HRDC chairperson in the district, Sydney Simwaka, says the accident is bound to raise suspicions.
This comes at a time when Mtambo remains in government’s bad books as he has been leading anti-Jane Ansah protests.
Recently President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika threatened to use force on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) who are in the forfront organizing the demonstrations.
