Minister of information Mark Botomani has said no City, District, Town Assembly or Council has granted permission to the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) to conduct demonstrations that are expected to take place today.

This has been said in a statement released by the office minister yesterday.

The statement said government prohibited the demonstrations in view of the extensive damage to property following the protests.

“Members of the general public are advised to take note of the fact that there is no permission at all for anybody to hold demonstrations on Tuesday 6th August, 2019 and Wednesday 7th August 2019,” reads part of the statement.

Meanwhile, the High Court has made its ruling by granting HRDC a go ahead with the demonstrations following an injunction by the Attorney General and Inspector General of police prohibiting HRDC from holding demonstrations.
