Malawi police Service (MPS) has said at least 100 people have been arrested in connection of looting and damage of property in the Anti-Ansah demonstrations.

National police spokesperson James Kadadzera confirmed the development.

According to Kadadzera, the arrest of the suspects was ensued during the August 6 Anti-Ansah demonstrations.

The latest are two men suspected to have stolen police riot equipment.

Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has been organizing mass protest calling for the resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah whom the Human rights grouping is accusing Ansah for mismanaging May 21 elections.
