Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Castel Malawi Limited, producers of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages is planning to stop using Glass Bottles on Soft Drinks.

The development comes barely a month after the company threatened to close its business in Malawi due to high excise tax rate imposed on the company.

In a statement released on August 13, 2019 signed by Castel Malawi Commercial and Marketing Director Chantal Akoumany, the company has advised its customers to return the bottles.

“Management of Castel Malawi Limited wishes to inform its valued customers that the Company no longer packages soft drinks in the 300ml heavyweight glass bottle. As such we would like to request customers to return heavy weight bottles to the nearest depot between now and September 30th 2019.

“Kindly note that we will not accept the return of any heavyweight glass after 30th September 2019,” reads in part the statement.

Meanwhile the recall of the heavyweight glasses has attracted mixed reactions on the social media with many saying this signifies and end to the said soft drinks.
