Joint Civil Society Platform on Governance has condemned the petrol-bombing of Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Chairperson Timothy Mtambo’s house in the capital Lilongwe.

HRDC Vice Chairperson Gift Trapence accused Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets of being behind the incident which happened in the wee hours of today.

During the attack, one of Mtambo’s cars was burnt.

In a statement released this morning National Coordinator for the newly-formed group Fyson Chodzi condemned the attack.

Chodzi has since asked the Malawi Police Service to investigate the incident.
