Police in Chitipa are currently on a manhunt for a 45-year-old man who allegedly killed his 23-year-old son after he came home drunk.

Chitipa police station public relations officer, Sub-Inspector Gladwell Simwaka has identified the suspect as Alick Bulambo and the deceased as Robert Bulambo both from Musani village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwaulambia in Chitipa.

According to Simwaka, during the night of 14 to 15 August, 2019, the deceased came home drunk – a situation that followed up with quarrels between him and his father as his elder was not pleased.

“Following this, the father took a hoe handle and hit the deceased on his head and all over the body and left him unconscious. He was then taken to Chitipa district hospital where he died while receiving treatment,”said Simwaka.

A Postmortem done at the facility showed that the death was due to internal bleeding secondary to assault.

The suspect has since escaped to unknown destination as the police have launched a manhunt.

Meanwhile, Police in the district are appealing to general public to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.
