Reverend Alex Benson Maulana, General Secretary for CCAP Blantyre Synod has retired from his position after serving as GS for the church for eight years.
The First Lady Gertrude Mutharika led thousands of CCAP members in the thanks giving ceremony for the outgoing GS at HHI Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre Sunday ,18th August 2019.
Reverend Maulana is well-known for being a pro-Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and has on several times used by the party.
The ruling DPP supported his re-election as GS of Blantyre Synod and the election was marred by violence as delegates could not agree on the electoral process.
Meanwhile top leaders of the Synod will on August 26 hold an elective conference to choose a new secretary general, while Maulana will be assigned other ecumenical duties.
