Renowned Blantyre based business entrepreneur Donex Zimbulani has condemned the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) over their continued planned demonstrations saying they are disturbing businesses in the country.
Zimbulani remarks comes following reports that the HRDC is planning to hold another demonstrations and vigils in the country’s borders and main airports on 26 August to 30th August as one way of forcing the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) C hair Jusice Dr Jane Ansah to resign over the way she conducted the May tripartite elections.
“The demonstrations and vigils are likely to affect the economy as it has been the case in the past. It is better for the leaders of the HRDC to lets the courts handle the issue at hand, the problem is that it seems that they have already taken position that is where the problem is,” he said.
Ziumbulani who is the owner of Donz Engineering located opposite Kamba market in Blantyre said it is better for the HRDC to let parliament to debate whether Anshan should resign or not because they are the ones who chose her.
“Ordinary Malawians are the ones that are paying the price because businesses are being disturbed as a result most Malawians are finding it difficult to find their daily needs,” he said.
He has since asked the HRDC leaders to think of the plight of ordinary Malawians, millions of properties that have been damaged and give dialogue a chance.
On the same development the HRDC has turned down the dialogue meeting which the former President Bakili Muluzi invited them saying that they will only attend such meeting if the incumbent president Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the MEC Chair will be in attendance.
