President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will appear in public for the first time since the one million march organized by Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) aimed at forcing Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.
Mutharika recently shunned the official opening of the 2019 International Trade Fair in the commercial capital Blantyre.
The President also missed SADC Summit which took place in the Republic of Tanzania and he directed his Vice Everton Chimulirenji to represent him.
According to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), the President will today preside over the Commissioning of the MDF Warships at the Maritime Force Headquarters in Monkey Bay, Mangochi.
Mutharika will arrive at the venue at Ten O’clock in the morning.
Meanwhile President Mutharika is expected to comment on the current political tension in the country.
