The Mponela First Grade Magistrate court has convicted and sentenced Simion Chisemphere (35 years) to 10 years Imprisonment with hard labour for intimidation offence.

The court through prosecutor Richard Sakala heard that the convict was a Sienta driver and was served with notification of intended prosecution for the offence of exceeding seating capacity and wrong parking by T/Sgt PHIRI and he was brought at the office to pay the fine of K10 000 and before paying when he was passing at the reception he started misconduct and saying that he is going to demonstrate against the police officers of Mponela Police Station and that their houses will be on fire soon.

The man pleaded guilty to the charge of intimidation which is contrary to section 88 of the penal code.

Passing judgement, First Grade Magistrate Yohane Nkhata described the offence as serious and added that intimidation offences are becoming rampant in the area.He therefore handed him a stiff sentence to deter would be offenders.

The convict Simion Chisemphere ,35 yrs hails from Madisi vge,T/A Chakhala in Dowa District.
