Some chiefs from the Lhomwe belt have spoken against a grouping advocating for the nullification of the Primary School Leaving Certificate Education (PSLCE) examination results over alleged use of quota system in selecting students in public Secondary Schools.

The grouping led by Charles Kajoloweka of Youth and Society (YAS) are accusing the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) of fovouring pupils from the Southern Region in the recently released PSLCE results.

Kajoloweka accused MANEB of using quota system in selecting the students and the grouping recently engage officials from the Ministry of Education Science and Technology on the matter.

The grouping further threatened to hold national wide protest on the matter, saying they system has led to most deserving student to be left.

But speaking in a media briefing on Tuesday the Chiefs by Senior Chief Kaduya of Phalombe gave the grouping 7 days ultimatum to bring evidence on the matter.

The Chiefs accused the grouping of trying to divide the country with the issue of quota system.

When contacted for comment Kajoloweka said has no time to respond to the remarks by the said Chiefs.

Meanwhile MANEB through its Executive Director Gerald Chiunda denied using quota system in selecting the learners to public Secondary Schools.
