President Peter Mutharika’s main critics Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) have said the head of state does not have a clue on how he is going to end political tension in the country.

This has been said by MCP and UTM publicists Reverend Maurice Munthali and Joseph Chidamti Malunga.

According to Munthali and Malunga, they are not surprised with Mutharika’s remarks to the international media stressing that the leader is clueless on ending the current political impasse.

Mutharika was responding to a question about his plans on resolving the election results dispute to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Mutharika has told the BBC that he cannot take any action on the political stand-off stressing he will wait for the outcome of the elections case which is on-going at the constitutional court.

Aftermath of May 21 tripartite elections, the country has been going through political tension as some people are not agreeing to the results the electoral body gave of declaring Mutharika a winner.

Meanwhile Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are calling for resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah to step down for allegedly mismanaging elections.
