President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed Honourable Reverend Mwai Kamuyambeni as Presidential Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs.

Kamuyambeni replaces Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Central region Uladi Mussa who resigned from the post three weeks ago citing personal reasons.

The appointment of Kamuyambeni has been confirmed in a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Chief Secretary to the President Lloyd Muhara.

According to the Office of President and Cabinet, the appointment is with effect from 2nd September, 2019.

Kamuyambeni was the campaign director in the just ended tripartite election which saw President Mutharika being declared winner by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) despite serious irregularities.

Meanwhile Malawi Congress party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) Presidents are disputing the polls and the case is currently in court.
