A mother who left her dead infant son’s body in a freezer has been sentenced to 99 years in jail.

Amanda Oakes, 36, was given the lengthy sentence after she pleaded guilty to manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, and chemical endangerment of a child last week in Dothan, Alabama.

Prosecutors say Oakes and her child’s father, Carlton James Mathis, 28, were on a drug run when their son died of a methamphetamine overdose in May.

The child reportedly died while he was with his father at a hotel in Dothan.

Oakes had left to return to Georgia to pickup her teenage daughter when Mathis called to say the boy died, according to the Dothan Eagle.
