Lawyers representing the Malawi Electoral Commission(MEC) and President Peter Mutharika have completed cross examining United Transformation Movement (UTM) roving monitor Miriam Gwalidi in the ongoing landmark presidential elections case.

Cross examination of the UTM monitor mainly focused on the impact of the alleged irregularities on the outcome of the presidential vote.

Both MEC and APM lawyers have labeled the evidence brought forward by UTM as weak having centered much on alterations and some mistakes which did not directly affect the outcome of the valid vote count.

UTM leader Saulos Chilima and his counterpart Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera are challenging the presidency of Mutharika saying he is operating hence are seeking nullification of the presidential results.
