Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has distanced itself from rumours the leaked WhatsApp screenshots depicting fake conversations between the grouping’s chairpersons Timothy Mtambo and other members attacking Mighty Be Forward and Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets supporters on stadia issues
.
During the campaign trail ahead of the May 21 tripartite elections President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika promised to construct two stadiums for Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers using his personal money.

But after the polls, President Mutharika changed tune and included in the National Budget for the constructions of two stadia for Wanderers and Bullets.

This attracted mixed reactions with HRDC promising to block the approval of the allocation of stadiums, saying Mutharika flouted procedures.

The move ignited cold war between supporters of the two teams and members of HRDC and some unknown people to create fake whatsapp messages depicting members of HRDC attacking supporters of the two teams.

But HRDC trashed the leaked WhatsApp screenshots describing the conversations as fake created by ill minded people.

“HRDC distances itself from the leaked WhatsApp screenshots depicting fake conversations and accounts of Human Rights Defenders Coalition Members. HRDC categorically Informs the general public that this is #desperate #propaganda aimed at tainting its bad image. HRDC is disappointed that day by day the so called #wizards of Propaganda keep wasting and investing their energy in cooking up mare stories that have no basis.

“HRDC calls upon all citizens to ignore the leaked fake conversations that have since gone viral on social media and concentrate on the upcoming demos slated for this coming Wednesday to Friday, 2019. HRDC values principles of democracy and has no time to be dragged in useless things. HRDC will remain unmoved despite the growing threats issued against Its Members,” reads in part the statement.

Meanwhile debate on the stadia issues continue with many trashing the idea.
