Organizers of Anti-Ansah demonstrations, Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) have said all is set for this week’s demonstrations the coalition planned to hold which are expected to begin on Wednesday.
This was said in Lilongwe during a press briefing yesterday.
During the briefing, HRDC chairperson Timothy Mtambo demanded the immediate prosecution of Charles Kafumba, an intelligence officer who was allegedly caught attempting to throw a grenade at HRDC Vice Chairperson Gift Trapence’s car.
Kafumbwa is said to be among the suspected assailants who are suspected to have attempted to bomb a vehicle belonging to HRDC at crossroads hotel few weeks ago, was apprehended when he was allegedly following HRDC officials in Lilongwe Area 10.
The coalition has also quashed the rumor that it has a list of journalist who are said to be on the HRDC pay roll, allegedly getting K20, 000 each to write Pro-HRDC stories.
HRDC has been organizing demonstrations calling for resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Jane Ansah for allegedly mismanaging May 21 elections.
