Demonstrations calling for the resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah have commenced in all the major cities across the country.
However, protesters in Lilongwe have started demonstrating, they met at Lilongwe Community Centre Ground.
They have however blocked the road and are throwing stones at any vehicle that attempts to pass the place.
HRDC vice chairperson Gift Trapence has urged demonstrators to keep calm, considering that there is still a case at The Supreme Court of Appeal regarding the demonstrations.
He said any mess in today’s demonstrations may have an impact on the outcome of the case.
It is also reported that there is heavy presence of Malawi defense Force (MDF) soldiers around the area.
