Police in Phalombe have arrested a 47-year- old woman for allegedly killing her 54-year-old husband over family issues.
Phalombe Police Publicist, Innocent Moses confirmed the development.
According to Moses, the suspect identified as Margaret Lazaro, allegedly hacked to death her husband, Kenneth Makaniko.
According to Moses, after taking lunch, the two left home for a drinking spree.
He said upon arrival at around 20:00, the husband asked for supper and the wife replied that she did not prepare it since there was no relish.
Moses said following the disagreement, a fierce fight ensued and the husband hacked the wife with an axe.
In revenge, the wife overpowered the husband and hacked him several times in the head.
He said the victim died of hemorrhage shock due to severe loss of blood as confirmed by medical personnel from Migowi Health Centre.
The woman was rushed to Holy Family Mission Hospital where she is responding to treatment.
The police publicist said a murder charge has been leveled against her and will appear in court soon after being discharged from the hospital.
Lazaro comes from Mandeule village while the deceased hailed from Makocho village in the area of Senior Chief Kaduya in the district.
