On Thursday, Hussein Kara Roba was found guilty of having carnal knowledge with the Grade Two pupil contrary to Sexual Offences Act.
The minor is said to have been defiled inside her mother’s house on July 13 last year.
The girl told the court how the accused ambushed her while sleeping in the sitting room, undressed her and committed the heinous act while covering her mouth to prevent her from screaming.
“He came through the door which was not locked. He undressed me and defiled me while covering my mouth so that I could not scream. All this time, the lights were on,” the minor told the court
Her mother told the court that she was woken up by screams from her daughter and found her bleeding.
“I found that the accused had escaped but my daughter, who was bleeding, told me it was Hussein (our neighbour) who had defiled her,” the girl’s mother said.
A medical report revealed that the girl was defiled. The accused pleaded not guilty to the counts.
He argued that the girl’s parents went to his house the following morning and claimed that they had seen foot marks from their home to his place.
The suspect further pleaded for leniency arguing that he had stomach ulcers. The magistrate ruled out the issue of mistaken identity noting that the girl gave very strong evidence that impressed the court.
I am satisfied after considering the evidence that the accused defiled the girl as charged. This offence has become prevalent in Isiolo and must be discouraged. I sentence him to life imprisonment,” the judge said.
Two weeks ago, a farmhand David Murerwa was sentenced to life in prison after the Isiolo court found him guilty of defiling a seven-year-old girl in Nanyuki Township on diverse dates in August 2018.
