Provision of technical skills in Phalombe is becoming a challenge as authorities have complained that they are lacking modern equipment.

Acting Principle of Naminjiwa Community Technical College, Jarlez Khasu said Fabrication and Welding and Carpentry and Joinery are the two trades which have been mostly affected.

According to Khasu the college is still using the old model equipment and this will affect the graduates once they establish businesses.

Khasu said most equipment which were introduced in the training modules for the carpentry and joinery and fabrication and welding are not available at the institution.

The acting principal made the remarks during a familiarization tour by the minister of labour, skills and innovation, Martha Chanjo Mhone, in Phalombe.
