The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has said it is ready to provide maximum security, during the anti- Jane Ansah protests set for Wednesday national wide.

Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) through its Chairperson Timothy Mtambo announced on Monday that the grouping will return to the street starting from tomorrow Wednesday.

This time HRDC said they are targeting the ongoing 21st Annual General Conference of the Electoral Commissions Forum for SADC Countries in Blantyre.

Ironically chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission Jane Ansah is chairing the conference.

Speaking in an interview with National Police spokesperson James Kadadzera said they will deal with any situation as it comes.

Kadadzera then urged protesters to desist from violence.

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) led by HRDC wants Ansah to immediately resign for failing to manage the disputed May 21 tripartite election which saw President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika being declared winner.

Meanwhile Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation movement (UTM) are seeking nullification of the polls in court.
