Malawi-made fashion label Mayamiko, dressed The Duchess of Sussex a white and black wrap dress on the royal couple’s tour to Africa this week.
The royal couple which is expected to be in the country tomorrow, made their appearance in South Africa Seeing Meghan in the Malawi-made attire.
According to the royal fan blog Meghan Mirror, the product description explains that the dress is made from locally sourced cotton and that all pieces from the brand are designed with ethical and sustainability in mind.
Her decision to wear the Malawi-based label is an early sign that she’ll use her royal visit to champion local designers as well as showcase sustainable fashion.
Mayamiko works in partnership with the Mayamiko Trust which aims to help the most disadvantaged people in Malawi through The Mayamiko Fashion Lab.
At the lab, where all the brand’s clothes are made, staff are given training in sewing and tailoring as well as financial skills which leads to a recognised qualification.
