International College of Business and Management (ICBM) in Malawi has graduated over 4,000 students at COMESA Hall in Blantyre.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony Principal of the College, Manaf Katonga said some of the students who graduated from the college are working in both the public and private sectors and some are doing under graduate and post graduate degrees in Malawi and overseas.

He said the college has achieved success in all examinations boards since it started in 2002 adding that it also has good facilities for education like good classrooms, library, two computer labs and offers free computer lessons to its students just to mention a few.

“There is a perception that the college is for Muslims but this is not true, because the college is open for all religious faiths and it accommodates everyone as long as they follow rules and regulations of the college, he said.

The ICBM Principal also said that the college is to start offering degree programs in Business Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Accounting and Community and Rural Development  this coming January.

Manaf also asked companies and organizations to put deliberate policies and programs to train the new graduates with skills because of the challenges they face when they go to look for employment.

Also speaking during the graduation, the Chairman of Altaf Gani ICBM Board said the college is the brain child of Bilal Trust and has been progressing well since it started.

Gani who is also the Secretary of Bilal Trust said seventy percent of the students at the college came from the under privileged background saying because of that they provide scholarships to needy students to finish their studies.

“We hope that the college will continue producing good results and because of its reputation, it is flooded with applications from students from other colleges,” he said.

He urged the graduating students to be ambassadors within their communities and provide hope and dignity to others.

Gani said his organization will continue for the social development of this country and asked the donor community to continue with their support.

Professor Samson Sajidu, Vice Principal of Chancellor College who was the guest of honor at the graduation said the college was established with the aim of developing needy Muslim students and others.
