The country’s President Peter Mutharika became the subject of mockery on Monday over his long convoy.
The whole issue broke out on twitter after a Ghanaian journalist, Saddick Adams posted a video of Mutharika with his convoy traveling in the Capital, Lilongwe.
In the post, the journalist compared the quality of the expensive vehicles on the convoy to the quality of the road the vehicles were being used on.
He captioned “Malawian leader’s convoy. See the quality of the cars vs the quality of the road.”
The convoy was full with armored military vehicles and other expensive vehicles probably carrying some government officials.
However, the state of the road was not so convincing.
One user commented, “Our African leaders are worse than malaria, aids and even wars. They kill us faster than all the above. Ohh Africa…!!!!”
Another said, “About time Africa establish common sense market.”
@MccoyObed asked if Malawians were all being moved to a different place, “Is the country relocating or what?”
And @Alhajipp shared his thoughts saying, “I think it’s going to be a long holiday because I saw a house car (mobile home) in there.”
