The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Kondwani Nankhumwa has officially opened an international Tobacco Coalition (T5) Workshop at Ufulu Gardens Hotel in Lilongwe.
Addressing the participants Nankhumwa said Malawians feel honored to host the workshop which, takes great significance and symbolism as this is where decisions taken will affect tobacco producing countries and influence the way they are seen globally.
Delegates from Malawi Zambia, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zimbabwe are attending the workshop.
The workshop is said to discuss some of the challenges facing the leaf tobacco sector and to collectively find a way to address the in the most satisfactory way.
T5 is a grouping of tobacco industry consist of 5 African countries.
