Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka has fired warning shots at the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for declaring war at innocent unarmed Malawians demanding justice.

Mkaka said this in reaction to the fracas that erupted on Wednesday in Blantyre between anti-Jane Ansah protesters and DPP youth cadets at Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds.

Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) organized demonstrations with an aim of forcing Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah to resign for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.

The demonstrations started on very well from Kumuzu Upper Stadium but upon reaching Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds protesters bumped into DPP supporters who blocked the Chipembere High Way.

The two sides started pelting stones at each other but DPP cadets overpowered the protesters and pounced on Billy Mayaya.

The police intervened by firing teargas at the protesters who were unarmed resulting to the death a 5 year old child at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

Writing on his official facebook page, Mkaka expressed sadness over the matter and warned the ruling DPP to tread carefully.

“Talking to a doctor friend who has been one of those attending to my friend Billy Mayaya, I learn my friend has been very badly injured especially in the head. He might need proper scanning. I conclude the target was to eliminate him completely.

“Word of caution: DPP this war you have started against unarmed innocent citizens simuimaliza. When Malawians are tired, they will not fear the gun! Mwina enanu kunalibe nthawi ya Operation Bwezani! MMalawi akatopa you can’t control him!” wrote Mkaka.

Meanwhile debate continues on the matter.
