Malawi Congress Party (MCP) presidential hopeful Lazarus Chakwera on Monday completed his testimony on disputed presidential elections where he maintained that the elections were marked by serious irregularities.

After being cross examined by Mutharika and Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) lawyers Chakwera was also re-cross examined by his own lawyer Mordechai Msiska.

In his cross examination Mbeta focused on the roles of the MCP monitors in the May 21 polls among other things.

Attorney for MCP leader Mordecai Msiska reexamined his client and he focused on the petition he has presented to court.

Chakwera insisted the presidential results were, mostly using correction fluid Tippex, saying as international accounting standardards that could not be accepted.

During his previous cross examination by Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale, Chakwera told the court that tippexed and duplicate forms that were also used in his own constituency where he won as an MP did not in any way affect the result.

MCP is now complaining about result and not activities on the polling day as they alleged earlier and that claims that there were pre-polling irregularities will be removed in his sworn statements.

The court has since adjourned to Tuesday and will start cross examining the second witness of Lazurus Chakwera.
