The Lilongwe City Council indicated earlier that it would be chasing away vendors from the streets on Tuesday making it impossible for the Jane Ansah protests to take place in the capital city.
After an intense discussions with the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) the party has now given in suspending the vendors chase on Tuesday.
“We had the discussions with the Lilongwe City Council leaders suspend their vendor chase program on Tuesday and they agreed to postpone the date to avoid clash,” said Trapence.
The council accuses vendors of theft, littering the city and indiscipline.
The protests comes just a day after the Quasi- religious body, the public affairs committee angaged the embattled Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah in talks in a bid to finding the lasting solution to the post- election political impasse.
