Chairperson for Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Timothy Mtambo has applauded the Supreme Court of Appeal for ruling in the coalition’s favor to continue holding Anti-Ansah demonstrations in the country.
According to Mtambo democracy has won.
“Thank you Supreme Court democracy wins and impunity has fallen,” writes Mtambo on his Facebook page.
Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale sought an injunction restraining HRDC from holding any other demonstrations until they (HRDC) have paid all the damages caused during the previous demonstrations.
HRDC has been organizing demonstrations calling for a resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah.
According to HRDC Ansah failed Malawians in the May tripartite elections as she declared president Peter Mutharika winner of the disputed elections.
