Ministry of Agriculture, water and development has assured Malawians that it will provide Maize in deficit areas through the agricultural development and Marketing Corporation as one way of enhancing food security in the country.

Public relations officer in the ministry Priscilla Mateyu said the country managed to have raised enough maize and other crops but effects like cyclone Idai and army worms rendered some households without food.

“We urge the people not to panic because the country is food secured. We have enough maize to provide to people especially in deficit areas where maize is not enough,” said Mateyu.

Mateyu said the ministry has introduced different initiates to address the food shortage in the country.
