Organizers of Anti-Ansah demonstrations, Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) have distanced themselves from the incidents of violence that happened on Tuesday during demonstrations in Lilongwe.
Speaking with the press HRDC leadership believe that people with ill mind are the ones doing the uncalled behavior with the aim of tarnishing the image of demonstrations n those organizing the protests.
HRDC vice chair Gift Trapence assured the gathering that they will not tolerate anyone to disrupt their peaceful demonstrations stressing that anyone caught will be dealt with by the coalition’s security personnel.
Trapence has however said he is impressed with the turnout of the protesters so far and has appealed to the people not to relent but should continue coming out in large numbers.
The HRDC is holding the demonstrations in the capital city, and they are expected to last till Friday, today marks the third day of the Anti-Ansah demonstrations.
HRDC is calling for resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah for allegedly mismanaging May 21 polls.
