Four people have died after a Minibus which they were travelling in overturned in the process of overtaking another Minibus in Nkhotakota district.
The accident occurred in the afternoon of October 6, 2019 at Kalimanjira village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Kalimanjira in the district.
Among the deceased, there are two females identified as Chifundo Fosi (38) of Katengeza village in the of senior chief Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district and the other one has only been identified as Nambewe.
While the male deceased is Jacob Jepter whose full particulars are not yet known.
At the time, the Minibus registration number KK 752 Nissan Caravan was being driven by Brighton Mussa (28) of Mankhukwa village in the area of senior chief Mwadzama in Nkhotakota district.
The driver who was operating from Salima heading towards Nkhotakota Boma, upon reaching Kalimanjira village in the process of overtaking another Minibus, he lost control of the Minibus and it eventually overturned and on spot killing two people while the other one died upon arrival at Nkhotakota District Hospital.
Onboard there were 13 passengers of which 2 have sustained serious injuries while 8 escaped with minor injuries.
The victims are receiving treatment at Nkhotakota District Hospital, only one seriously injured has been referred to Lilongwe Central Hospital.
