Muslim Youth United (MYU) in collaboration with Malawi Blood Transfusion (MBTS) organized the annual blood donation camp at Mpingwe Sports Club with the purpose of raising blood to help those that are in need of blood in different hospitals in Malawi.

Riaz Banda from MYU said as an organization they saw it important to have the event to save lives saying that they were hoping to raise close to fifty units of blood.

He said “only whoever keeps a soul a live, it is as though he has kept alive all mankind” (AL-MAA’DA:32).

“As a charitable organization this is one of the activities that we normally do to help those that need our help in different ways’” he said.

Garbet Thyangathyanga Clinic Nurse from MBTS commended MYU for the initiative and encouraged other organizations to emulate the same.

He also encouraged people to visit them at their Head Offices in Blantyre to give blood saying just like MYU has done he said, they can also make a clinic with other organizations for the same purpose.

“Everything has gone very smoothly and there was a high turn up of people men in particular who volunteered themselves to give blood” he said.

Apart from people giving blood Thyanga thyanga said they also give counseling and whatsoever people may need to know.

The event was sponsored by National Muslim Students, Pakistan Welfare Association, Limbe Muslim Jamaat (LMJ) and Bilal Trust.
