The United Transformation Movement (UTM) member Bright Kawaga on Sunday bombarded Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) official Moffat Banda when he presided the November 5 by-elections launch at Malingunde Primary school in Lilongwe South Constituency.
The launch comes amid stakeholders concerns bordering on the loss of trust in the organisation caused by alleged mismagement of May 21 presidential elections.
During the event held at Malingunde primary school MEC commissioner Banda urged people to have trust in the electoral body.
After the Commissioner unveiled the calendar, the floor was open for people to ask questions.
UTM member Bright Kawaga asked the commissioner to explain why people should trust MEC in the area looking at the situation happening at National level on alleged poor management of Maya presidential Elections.
Commissioner Banda asked people in the area to disregard the current political situation and concentrate on electing a member of parliament
Group village headman of the area said people are suffering because they don’t have representation in parliament.
MEC is expected to conduct voter legislation to ensure all eligible voters are accommodated in election.
Parliamentary election was postponed in the Lilongwe South Constituency following the death of the then UTM candidate hence the by election.
