The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has terminated a staff member’s contract in Kenya for allegedly insulting guards and racially abusing a woman at a mall in Nairobi.
During an argument in a car park, the ICRC employee allegedly called the woman a “monkey” as she tried to calm the man down.
In a statement on Monday, ICRC apologized to the victim and the public for the misconduct of one of their colleagues.
“As of this evening, the person’s assignment in Kenya has been terminated. We want to apologize again for the disturbance and to anyone who was insulted,” the statement read.
The decision was reached after the organisation met witnesses as they investigated the matter.
