The Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) has endorsed newly formed Association of CCAP Journalists, saying it is an initiative that could have been in place long time back.

General Secretary of CCAP Blantyre Synod, Reverend Dr. Billy Gama, said on Monday after meeting executive members of the Association in Blantyre that the media is crucial in promoting and maintaining the image of the Church.

“We have welcomed the idea fully and we are confident that journalists within our Church can write stories with clear understanding than anyone else,” said Gama.

He said all synods have been carrying out tangible developmental initiatives but some went unreported, and believe the coming of the Association is a beginning of a new chapter.

Interim president of Association, journalists Moses Masiye commended CCAP Blantyre Synod for endorsing the grouping, saying it is an encouragement.

“We are grateful that Blantyre Synod has welcomed the Association and we are shortly meeting Nkhoma and Livingstonia synods before meeting the general synod,” said Masiye.

The Association is comprised of CCAP journalists from different media houses across the three synods.
