A grouping of people from Karonga and Chitipa has issued a seven day ultimatum to government, seeking an explanation on recent series of attacks on Human Rights Defenders Coalition Chairperson Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo.

This follows different attacks on human rights defenders in the country that has seen no suspect arrested in connection with the rising violent scenes.

Among others, a group named Karonga-Chitipa Concern Citizens are demanding that the minister of homeland security Nicolas Dausi should go to Karonga and explain if at all government is connected with the attacks.

The Coordinator of the group Walusako Munde said authorities should be aware that Mtambo has got the backing and they have given them 7 days to adhere to the demands.
