In Kano State, Nigeria-A lion that escaped from its cage at Kano zoological garden on Saturday, October 19, has finally been captured after hours of searching for the animal.

The disclosure was made on Sunday, October 20, by the head of the zoological garden, Sai’du Gwarzo, who said that the lion was found inside the zoo premises, Premium Times reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the lion was found in a cage belonging to goats. The lion was said to have killed and eaten all the goats in the cage.

Gwarzo said: “The rangers had succeeded in locking up the cage before the lion was shot with an injection which made him less harmful before it was captured and returned to its cage.”

Legit.ng previously reported that there was panic on Saturday night, October 19, around Zoo Road in Kano metropolis when a lion escaped from its cage at Kano zoological garden.

The incident happened around 9pm when the rangers were trying to put it back to its cage after they returned it from the national agricultural show which took place in Nasarawa state.

A resident of Zoo Road, Malam Rabiu Lawal, said: ”My entire family members will be indoors even if it will take one month to recover the lion. I have not experienced this kind of fear since I packed into this area more than 15 years.”

Residents of the area went indoors earlier than usual to avoid the consequences of an encounter with a loose lion.
