Final lab tests on the Ebola suspected patient who died in Karonga have tested negative, health authorities reveal.

A 37 year old man in Karonga district was quarantined upon showing signs and symptoms similar to those of the deadly Ebola virus infection.

The man however died last week while at a health camp where he had been isolated.

At the time of his death, samples were flown to South Africa for further tests.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health Joshua Malango confirmed the final results are a match to the preliminary test which ruled out Ebola.
