Police in Tanzania are looking for man who allegedly chopped off his wife’s ear after a disagreement over his phone.
Its said that the man chopped off his wife’s both ears on Wednesday, accusing her of hiding his mobile phone.
It is alleged that he was angered when he saw her making a call, thinking that she was using the same phone, resulting in a scuffle.
The victim said that the man tied her up in their home in Mesaga village in Serengeti District and proceeded to commit the heinous act.
Speaking from her hospital bed in Nyerere Hospital, Mkami Mwitonyi, the woman, claimed that the husband wanted to slaughter her, but fled after chopping off her ears.
“He tied me with a rope and cut my ears. He intended to kill me but after cutting the ears he fled,” she said, adding that he told her to make her last prayers, before he could slaughter her.
Mr Sagada Bodo, a police officer from Kenyamonta Ward said that officers are working with village elders in pursuing the man who remains on the run.
The incident comes amid international attempts to combat the gender based and domestic based violence trends.
