A police officer has been nabbed for allegedly raping a 16 year old girl while in cell in Phalombe District, Faceofmalawi can reveal.
The suspect has been identified as Sgt Charles Mabuwa NO B6251 born in 1994 from Nadolo village TA Ngongoliwa Thyolo district.
According to information at hand, on 23/10/2019 the victim alongside her two friends (name withheld) both aged 16 all STD 8 learners of Migowi primary school from Mapondo village T/A Kaduya Phalombe were arrested for assaulting a fellow student (Name withheld) aged 16 of same Mapondo village.
During the stated night, the officer was on night shift. On 24/10/2019 all the three girls were released and later came with their parents with allegations of being assaulted and the reporter also alleged that she was raped by the police officer who used a condom.
The parents of the victim reported the matter to Phalombe police station leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile investigations are currently under way.
