The Governments of the Republics of Malawi and of South Africa have this morning signed an MOU towards Rhino conservation and management.
Speaking after he signed the MoU, Minister responsible for Natural Resources Bintony Kutsaira said the signing of the MoU is a milestone in wildlife conservation and rhino conservation in this country.
He said the MOU will facilitate the donation of rhinos from the South African government to Malawi’s Liwonde National Park, which became extinct by the year 1992 due to poaching, but were later re-introduced in 1993 in Liwonde National Park by a donation from the SA government.
The signing of the MoU formalizes the long time collaboration that has been there between the two governments in conservation and management of rhinos.
