Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Upper Shire, Brighton Vita Malasa, has condemned Monday’s clashes between Muslims and Christians in Balaka District.

Malasa has since emphasized on the need for both parties to critically look into the matter, saying the issue is not just between Anglican Christians and Muslims but a national one.

He was speaking when asked to comment on the latest stand by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, which released a statement clarifying its stand on wearing of Hijab by Muslims girls in all public schools.

The statement, signed by Principal Secretary Justin Saidi, says government intends to task Public Affairs Committee to come up with a final decision on the matter.
