Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has announced another wave of demonstrations after a short break, Karonga to host the first wave of three-day demonstrations starting from tomorrow.

Chimwemwe Maunde General Secretary for HRDC in Karonga confirmed that the demonstrations are slated for Wednesday to Friday this week.

“We have now issued notices to the District Commissioner and the police for the security during the demonstrations. Malawians need to realize that we have to exercise our human rights at all times, ’’said Munde.

The coalition, among other stakeholders are demanding resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission chairperson Jane Ansah for allegedly mismanage May 21 presidential election.

According to HRDC, Ansah and MEC commissioners failed Malawians in the elections.

Meanwhile, the grouping has appealed to its followers to maintain peace and order during the protests.

Previous protests organised by HRDC have been marred by violence with protesters looting and coming head on with the police, despite the grouping condemning such acts.
