President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika was this morning forced to suspend his speech mid-way at the University of Malawi graduation event, being held at Chancellor College in Zomba following a power cut.

The power went for close to five minutes and some top officials were seen banging heads due to pressure due to the power cut.

Electricity was restored later and Mutharika resumed delivering his speech.

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) is carrying out a rational distribution of power across the country and move has negatively affected many business players in the country.
