Traditional leaders have been asked to be agents of peace amidst the current political impasse.
The call has been made by spokesperson in the ministry of Local government Muhlabase Mughogho.
His remarks follow various fracas that have been happening in the country aftermath of May 21 tripartite elections.
According to Mughogho chiefs have a role to maintain peace in their communities.
After Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared winner of the polls there have been unrest in the country as some people do not approve the outcome of the polls, which led to demonstrations by other stakeholders.
Meanwhile other competitors in the May 21 polls United Transformation Movement (UTM) Leader Saulos Chilima and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Lazarus Chakwera are seeking nullification of the presidential polls.
